HR Generalist at Folkteatern in Gothenburg
Folkteatern Västra Götaland ABVästra Götalands län, Göteborg
Previous experience is desired
Folkteatern is looking for a versatile and driven HR Generalist
About the workplace
Folkteatern is located at Järntorget in Gothenburg. Our operations include four stages with self-produced performing arts, guest performances, concerts, discussions, and much more. We aim to be a contemporary theater for a broad audience and strive to become one of Northern Europe's most interesting stages. The potential of art to experiment and challenge is at the center, and we seek to lower the barriers to the theater space.
Folkteatern operates as a limited company, wholly owned by an economic association. We are a regional theater that receives grants and assignments from the Västra Götaland Region, our main financial backer. The theater has around 45 permanent employees, and during performance periods, we double or triple our resources with extra staff and freelancers. Lotta Lekvall is the CEO and Frida Röhl is the artistic director.
We are now looking for a driven, versatile, and secure HR Generalist who wants to continue the work with us to become one of Northern Europe's most interesting stages.
Job description
As an HR Generalist, you will be responsible for supporting managers and the management team at the theater. We explicitly work in cross-border partnerships where mutual trust and expectations of each other drive the work forward. The HR Generalist will work to fulfill the theater's overall goals based on the needs of the operations and will operationally be responsible for administrative tasks.
The role is broad and spans the entire HR area, including issues related to recruitment, labor law, collaboration, work environment, and rehabilitation. The focus is on working closely with the operations where performing arts is our core business. You will also collaborate with colleagues in other support functions, union representatives, and employees to establish and develop common routines for the theater.
You will ensure the payroll process together with our payroll office. You will independently drive your own projects and develop processes and working methods within HR based on the needs of the operations. Administrative work will include some contract writing, registration, and digital administration in systems such as Office365, Theatron, and Flex HRM.
Who are we looking for? We are looking for someone who finds it most enjoyable to create a good and dynamic workplace. Like the rest of us at the theater, you are warm and open but have the ability and courage to question and challenge established norms. You are confident in your skills and have a consultative, empathetic approach that helps you create a balance between service level and demands on your managers. The industry we operate in is fast-paced with many passionate professionals, so you should have a similar drive. It is also important for you to act in a team and context where the collective performance drives the operations forward. As is usual in the HR field, questions rarely have simple answers, and we therefore see that you have a natural inclination for critical thinking and can reason with your manager, colleague, union representative, or employee to arrive at the best possible goal in each specific case.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in human resources and/or organization or other education that we consider equivalent.
· At least three years of experience in qualified HR work. Experience in artistic operations within the performing arts and/or cultural sector is an advantage.
· The position requires very good social skills where you can interact unpretentiously and trustfully with different people and with internal and external partners.
· Very good knowledge of labor law and negotiation.
· Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
What can Folkteatern offer you?
We are an exciting, responsible, and forward-looking workplace where we have the opportunity to work partially from home. Our theater house is a vibrant meeting place and a cultural hub in a dynamic part of the city. We offer the right person a responsible and varied job at one of the largest theater institutions in Västra Götaland.
